GERMAN FOOTBALL, 40 Years.   Forty years ago a group of Jakarta based Germans got together to form the first expat football franchise in Indonesia. The year was 1964 and England were two years away from taking the World Cup off the Germans by a score of 4-2 The Jakarta Expat Pool League 2004   The Jakarta Expat Pool League was a huge success. After 12 weeks of intense competition and a thrilling final, 400 players and supporters celebrated with a fantastic awards dinner at the Marriott Hotel. ATHENS 2004, Good Luck Indonesia!   Where did Indonesia win its first-ever Olympic medals and in which sport? Seoul in 1988 and the women archers, Lilies Handayani, Kusuma Wardhani and Nurfitriana Lantang. The medals were silver but nonetheless welcome for all that.

SOCCER   The Jakarta International Football League has just wrapped up its 12th season to the joy of some and relief of others. It always seems to end so abruptly after a long September to June season (running parallel to Europe’s finest leagues). TOUCH FOOTBALL   The uninitiated may be wondering what they are supposed to touch, and so here is the answer - with one hand a defender must touch any part of an opponents anatomy (including their clothing and shoes) or the rugby ball 1000th RUN FOR THE BATAVIA HASH   The Batavia Hash completed their 1000th run on June 5th. That’s an outstanding milestone – signifying a 20-year presence in Jakarta

DEAN JONES   Dean Jones, an Australian International Cricketer whose career spanned the decade from 1984 to 1994, was the guest speaker at the Jakarta Cricket Association’s Annual Dinner held on May 15th 2004.
